Excelerate SPANISH is on online language website, featuring their Excelerate SPANISH Streaming service. It offers not only engaging video lessons with fun gestures, action sequences, skits, and stories, but the option for physical books and vocabulary review and practice on Quizlet. This means you get a well planned out course, and no fuss for you the teacher! Something we all love!

Each lesson begins with an introduction of the new vocabulary and structures.  Your student sees the lesson's words as they are listed on the whiteboard, hears their pronunciation, and then models a gesture for each word or phrase, along with the online class. This is such a HUGE step- it is how Miss Grace actually was able to pick up more Gaelic than we ever thought she would! It is how her brains is wired- she needs that physical action to cement the word into her right brain, to retain it! So we were thrilled to see it here!

Another plus with the program is how natural sequencing is used, so your student will have previously taught vocabulary within a later lesson, for a natural review. For example, in Lesson 5, the students used words from three previous lessons, to almost act as a prefix meaning- they knew the previous word, so they were able to guess at a phrase quite easily. I wasn't sure how Miss Grace would do on that, but she was able to remember the words, because of the gestures she had learned!

This isn't you typically structured language course! It's not a bunch of isolated words. There is a themed concept, and students learn vocabulary words related to the storyline, and then are able to put them together, to tell something. It's like giving kids individual letter tiles, and then they not only spell words, but write paragraphs! And you can really see just how much of a difference this word context makes on your student's confidence level!

The context is reviewed as well, by the teacher reading questions in Spanish, with the vocabulary words from the lesson, and then the student has to answer the questions. It's a great way to test short term memory, and help to send it to longer term memory! I was pleasantly surprised to hear Miss Grace 'arguing' with the lesson, and realize she was just being emotional, as the teacher had instructed! LOL.

Miss Grace learns best when she can see the natural pattern, as it's how she learned English, so it makes sense it  makes Spanish easy too! She also loved how she could watch the lesson, and then rewind it, and speak/gesture along with the online class, so that she was more confident. She said it was a lot less stressful, than other's we have tried!

excelerate quizlet lesson helps

She really loved the Quizlet review sections as well. She's not big on flashcards, but the games (matching and gravity), really helped to cement the vocabulary for her, and she started taking the tests halfway through each lesson, to test herself, and then after she finished the video lesson, would go back and re-take the test (for a better grade), and we used that as her final score. Not having to make quizzes, test and review for the lessons is HUGE. REALLY huge! It really makes this streaming class SO SO easy!

There are 48 video lessons in the Streaming Course, and it is suitable for upper elementary through high school. If you use the Quizlet flashcards, games and quizzes (ALL FREE), it can easily cover a high school credit. While it covers levels 1 and 2 (24 lessons each), I would feel more comfortable with having some more post course work done, to be in line with our state university's standards for entering high schoolers. You could use the valuable texts or workbooks (which contains a variety of interesting activities for further practice and mastery), or try other readings, to test for understanding and knowledge.

All in all, Excelerate SPANISH Streaming offers homeschool students a very flexible way to learn a foreign language on the go, on any device, at any time! It really allows for your student to be an independent learner, thanks to the available extra resources! We highly recommend it!
