In Louisiana we are on pretty severe stay at home orders, which of course the mass peanut gallery who are BORED, have chosen to try to circumvent and ignore. SIGH.....Not sure how things are in your state, but we're hunkering down and spending quality time TOGETHER versus Marie Kondoing everything in sight.

Here are a few items that have really helped us the past 2 weeks, and that can all be ordered or picked up locally (thank goodness for the internet and being able to keep small businesses going, right?).

First- let's keeping the kids busy!

 Unstable Unicorns

The cute new family game that just might bring out survival skills in everybody!

Unstable Unicorns is a strategic card game that will destroy your friendships...but in a good way. The game was one of Kickstarter’s top 100 most backed projects of all time and won the 2019 People’s Choice Award for Toy of the Year.
For 2–8 players, this game comes with 135 cards (including player reference cards) and a rule sheet, in a magnetic closure box.  The game is fully playable on its own, but any Unstable Unicorns expansion pack (there are 4 at this time) can be added to it, for more fun (especially if you have the maximum amount of players). Play your cards strategically to block opponents from getting more unicorns as you fill your own stable with the needed number of unicorns to become The Righteous Ruler of All Things Magical.

While noted for 14+, I'd say 12+ can play it, but it may take older teens or an adult to get them thru the basics first, before they're up to playing a 4 hand game. The game CAN be played 2 handed, but is much more fun (and evil, in a good way, LOL) with 4! There is definitely a learning curve to this game, it took us about 3 times playing to really get the hang of the game (videos about playing are VERY helpful, as the instructions are in very small print! The game takes 30–45 minutes to play, so you can give it a go, every day, until everyone gets the hang of it! The cards are too cute, and once you understand the rules, you'll see how it can get pretty evil! But it's fun, and it's on Miss Grace's list of things to share with friends when they can all get back together!

Click on over to the website and use code UNICORN to save 20% off your own copy of the game (and fun accessories (including a fun NEIGH button) and merch (tshirts and pins))! A set would be a FUN Easter gift for tweens and teens!

Julia Rotham Book Set
Julia Rotham Book Set

I actually bought this for Miss Grace almost 2 years ago, but she wasn't ready for it. I gave it to her this year for her 13th birthday, and she dove her nose into the books as soon as she opened them, and we literally had to get her to stop, so she would open the rest of her gifts!

The set comes with 3 books: Farm AnatomyNature Anatomy, & Food Anatomy, in a specially designed slipcase with 10 frame ready prints, with pictures from the 3 books. All 3 books feature whimsical line drawings and an abundance of educational info on life on a farm, nature’s hidden wonders, and delectable tidbits from kitchens and pantries around the globe. They're an unique combination of art, science and life skills!

The books are perfect for stay at home- the Nature book is perfect for getting kids OUTSIDE (peace and quiet for YOU, YEAH), and searching their backyards to see what they can find in the book. For example, I had NO idea we had a Paw Paw tree in the very back of our yard! NO clue where it came from in the past 3 years, but since it had fruit, it's apparently made it's been in the yard for awhile! Every day since getting the books, Miss Grace has shared tidbits from them with me, so score for getting her reading (!!) and for learning things she will use for the rest of her life, and can teach HER kids!

The next book in the set, Ocean Anatomy comes out at the end of April, so you might want to pre-order it, in time for Summer learning!

While the kids are out in the yard, you might want to consider an alternative to flip flops, since shopping has to be done online right now (is it ONLY my kid who only has 2 pairs of shoes left that fit her???)
nake-fit

NakeFit can solve that problem. for hanging out around the house and by your pool!

NakeFit, is a revolutionary adhesive for your soles, to protect your skin from a slippery fall. Featuring a waterproof adhesive, they are perfect for kids who hate water shoes, but need some bottom of the feet protection and grip in the pool! They're also perfect for walking along the beach- as you still have a layer of protection, in case you step on something, but it still feels like you're shoeless! And since they come in fun colors and sizes, everyone can have their own colors (reduce  some of the fighting among the kids!)!

Miss Grace wasn't too sure about them at first. Not sure if it was the sizing or not, but she felt like they weren't sticking as well as she would have liked for walking on pavement. She did try them in the bathtub (hey no pool, we had to improvise), and felt like they were much better for use in water-pool or beach. She would like to see future designs with actual toes (current design has big toe and the rest are together, for more flexibility, but over all thought they were great for when you travel and dont want to bring your water shoes!I agree, they help reduce all the extras' you have to bring when you go on vacation, and since they can be easily peeled off and thrown away after every use, they're also pretty sanitary! You can purchase them on the NakeFit website!

Now that the kids are worn out- how about something for YOU?

steeped coffee
When you don't want to wake the household up, but want to enjoy peace and quiet (and a lovely spring morning outside on the porch) by YOURSELF, or just don't want the hassle of making a super cup of coffee with 3 machines (since you're missing your coffee shop, let Steeped Coffee come to the rescue, with just hot water and a packet of coffee! Yup, I said packet- guilt-free eco-friendly bag (made using renewable and compostable materials) that require no machines (just like a tea bag)!

So step aside, coffee pods. and instant coffee, single-serve fresh ground NITRO coffee is now available anywhere you want it! It’s been nearly impossible to keep ground coffee fresh, which quickly ruins the taste,” said Wilbur. “With our Nitro Sealed bags, oxygen is replaced with nitrogen, so the coffee stays fresh as if it was ground moments ago.”

And oh what a great cup of coffee it is! It hasn't matterered at all,  which blend I have tried- each cup has been rich and fresh, like I just got it at a coffee shop! In fact, their decaf is officially by FAVORITE decaf- it has full body coffee flavor, without all the caffeine! They sent me an adorable sample box, filled with 2 samples of each of their 4 regular blends and the decaf. There is light, medium, dark, and extra dark (French Roast) roast blends. ALL of them are super smooth, and thanks to the oxygen and the way they are blended-super smooth. No acid to come back on you with these blends! And that extra dark? It just may be one of the BEST dark coffees you've had! From an instant coffee!

With over 10 billion unrecyclable pods accumulating in landfills each year, being able to have great tasting coffee that doesn't require them or fancy equipment is not only amazing, but good for our environment! Steeped Coffee is available at select premium supermarkets, luxury hotels, offices offering craft coffee services, and through partnerships with over 100 top specialty coffee roasters. Or you can order on their website! The variety box comes in packs of 10 or 30! I know I'll be purchasing many box, and you will too once you try them! They even have subscriptions and special starter packs! They'd make a super gift for any coffee lover you know too!
