Happy National Limerick Day!

While limericks aren't TECHNICALLY Irish (although there IS a town in Ireland called Limerick!), as they were made popular by an Englishman (yes, I know, boo hiss hiss from the Irish gallery), the Irish HAVE adopted them, and most of the world thinks of them as Irish (too right says the Irish gallery again..)....

But at least on Edward Lear's birthday each year, we have another day to celebrate them!

Here's one from the White House Pub in Limerick,
that you might feel about now after all these weeks of stay at home:

The Limerick is furtive and mean,
you must keep her in close quarantine,
or she sneaks up to the slums,
and properly becomes
disorderly, drunk and obscene.
