Review:
This is a great book to give to Mom, your favorite aunt or sister, and especially Grandma, for Mother's Day. The dedication page allows for personalization for graduation, first apartment, or wedding. The eight color-coded sections each contain 18 pages, that allow you toenter all your family's favorite recipes,. By not labeling the sections for you, it gives you the choice to name them what you want, ie Easy Recipes, Grandma's Recipes, Mom's Recipes, versus traditional labels like Breakfast, Dinner, and Desserts. Each section also starts with a Recipe Index, including page numbers, for easier locating of recipes (there is no final index section). There is also a backpage containing Measurement Conversions for volume ingredients dry and wet, Weight Equivalents, and Oven Temperature Cobnversions from Fahrenheit to Celsius.
This is a lightweight paperback book, but able to contain a treasure trove of family cooking! Personally, I love having it in the book form, so my daughter won't be losing her Grandmother's handwritten 3x5 index recipe cards, or worrying about a box of them sitting on the shelf, that could fall over and unsort them all . You could always scan one of the handwritten cards, or a picture of your child cooking one of the recipes with Mom or Grnadma, and put on each chapter page as a memory too!
This could be a fun summer project, for you and the kids, to put together one of these books, and then make additional copies for more family members, and we highly recommend it.
