Synopsis:

The letter was short. A name, a time, a place.

Marion Lane and the Midnight Murder plunges readers into the heart of 1950s London, to the secret tunnels that exist far beneath the city streets. There, a mysterious group of detectives recruited for Miss Brickett’s Investigations & Inquiries use their cunning and gadgets to solve crimes that have stumped Scotland Yard.

Late one night in April, 1958, Michelle White -- a filing assistant at Miss Brickett’s -- receives a letter with a shocking warning. White goes to investigate but as the clock strikes midnight, she is murdered by a killer she can’t see – her death the only sign she wasn’t alone.

Marion Lane, a first-year Inquirer-in-training, finds herself being drawn into the murder investigation when her colleague is framed for the crime. To clear their name and find the true killer, she must sort through the hidden alliances at Miss Brickett’s and secrets dating back to WWII.

Masterful, clever, and deliciously suspenseful, Marion Lane and the Midnight Murder is a fresh take on the Agatha Christie styled locked room mystery with an exciting new heroine detective at the helm.

Review:

First off let me say if you hate boos that st up a trilogy and end in the middle without closing all the open storylines, this book may not be for you! But if you're willing to step into 1950s London and into a world part sci-fi, part book lover's mystery, then this IS the book for you! Definitely different, it is a rapid read, thanks to rapid dialogue, literal scenes that are so well described that you fee you are with Marion, and the feel that you've stumbled on a book series for grownups missing all the magic from the Harry Potter series! It's made more fun, when you realize it's based on authentic underground London locations! Can't wait to read book 2, and so will you when you read this fun new book to take you into 2022!
