A victim with no voice.... A killer with no fear.... A race against time.

dead of the night cover

Synopsis:

When the body of a homeless man is found at the foot of a church steeple in the middle of the harshest winters Cardiff has seen for years Inspector Marco’s superior wants the inquiry finished quickly. Even if it means the killer evades justice. But Marco isn’t happy and he knows from bitter personal experience how tough life can be.

A second killing of a rough sleeper only galvanizes Marco and his team to hunt down the killer. But the lives of the homeless community makes uncovering the clues and tracking the killer challenging.

When a vital witness disappears, Marco fears the worse. And despite knowing that a vital clue exists it remains tantalizingly out of his grasp. Things only get worse when a woman linked to the inquiry cannot be found.

Only when he uncovers the missing piece of the jigsaw does he realize where to catch the culprit and how finally he must prevent more deaths.

Review:

This is book 5 of the Marco series, and one of the best. Marco shows his compassion, with pushing forward on the murder case, even when admin wants a quick closure, or at least have it swept under the rug. But Marco feels like there is more to the case, and when a second subject, who he had contact is also killed, he knows there is more afoot than a dispute over drugs or property. As he picks at the edges of their world, he realizes there may be a vast network at play, ready to undermine every success he makes in the case. As he and his team hone in on a potential killer, the stakes get higher, and the thriller coaster ending will surprise most readers!
