How to Rebalance Your Hormones, Master Your Metabolism, and Become the Boss of Your Own Body

The Women’s Guide to Hormonal Harmony cover

Synopsis:

A Women's Guide to Hormonal Harmony gives women the knowledge, tools, and confidence to rebalance their hormones, master their metabolism, and become the boss of their own body. From thyroid disorders, hormonal imbalances, gut disorders, to navigating the best "diet" plan- this guide serves as the one book you need to feel your best and reclaim your hormones, health, and body.

In this book, you will be given the knowledge that you need on what your hormones are, how they work, and how they interact and influence the body. You will learn the truth about what healthy eating really means, what foods will help nourish your body, and how to live a healthy, sustainable lifestyle. This is a secret sauce book of knowledge bombs for all women to not only know what is going on in their bodies, but why.

Key takeaways include:

 - Your hormones are like a symphony. If one is out of balance, it ruins the entire performance.

- Just because period problems are common, does not make them normal. Birth control can act like a band-aid, but it won't truly heal the wound.

- "Calories in vs. calories out" is not all that matters. Your body is an ever-changing organism, not a car with one set fuel-need and way to run. You have hormones that can increase or decrease your metabolism, and hormonal imbalances can play a great role in your ability to maintain or change your body composition and weight.

- Your health will not be optimized if your digestion and gut health is not optimized. You are not what you eat, you are what you digest and absorb. If you want a healthy body, you need a healthy gut!

Lacey Dunn, MS, RD, LD, CPT, has a fiery passion for helping women feel and look their very best. People call her the Hormone Fairy Godmother,” as her one mission in life is to help women go from surviving to thriving.

Review:

More than just another health and nutrition book, this book really gets into the WHY your body gets out of balance and what happens when it does. This helps you to recognize your OWN symptoms, so you can see where the book can help you. It starts with a questionnaire, so you can see where you might be, and then she educates you for different seasons of life, and how each can affect us differently. This is the book your doctor SHOULD have given you after the kids and before perimenopause hit!

It really is a book that you can start your teen reading though! The section on periods and what can be WRONG is illuminating for most teens, and helps them to be able to state symptoms they may be having (but not sharing) and letting you, the parent, know they need to see a doctor. As well, the dieting section is really more of the best way to loose weight to keep your hormones balanced, and is not a quick fix, but a healthy permament one! Though it is VERY lengthy (it feels like 2/3 of the book, but it isn't), and you may have to take that part of the book in stages.

While I requested the book thinking it would be helpful for me, I found that it is more helpful for Miss Grace, who is back combating stomach issues. Now when we go to see the doctor, I now know a few things to ask she be tested for and those results may change how her treatment progresses. With the diet and supplement suggestions, based on her results, we may be able to cure her issues more easily than we though.

This is a good resource book to have, and to see how it can help you, or loved ones as well. Be sure to read the section on cortisol for a really could chapter on how stress really DOES affect us ore than we realize, and you might be surprised how you, and your friends, may be in Stage 3/4 most of the time! Who knew being a modern mom was unhealthy? LOL. She has some great suggestions for gaining your inner peace back too! Making some of the changes she suggest could be very hard, but in the long run, you will be much healthier for it!
