Review:

The author does a great job in introducing the reader to the basic herbs grown and sued around the world and providing info to take them from seed to your table! He starts the book off with info on different types of herb gardens and how to set up the one to best fit YOUR needs!

Then he starts on the herbs. He gives you their name and Latin name, the parts to use for culinary needs and their uses, and includes their taste profile- be it sweet, savory and what the taste is similar too(very good idea for those new to herbs!). From their he covers garden type needed, best zones, soil needed, growing, watering and coloration. He also covered starting from seeds, which plants to plant with it, very important pruning and harvesting (including safety precautions), and then drying (including how to remake seeds for your next planting!) he then gives the reader 2 recipes per herb- they can be spice blends, cleaning, homeopathic medicine/teas or main dishes!

As you can see, it is a VERY thorough book, and I was highly impressed with the AMOUNT of info available in the book! Miss Grace is using it to round out her studies this semester with her herb garden, and plans on getting the paper copy to have on her garden reference section (you gotta love it when a teen wants to purchase her own reference book herself!). If you're looking to start an herb garden, check this book out first and use it as your herb 'bible' and you'll have a great herb garden!
