Synopsis:

Athena has invited Case Donnelly, recently relocated from Pittsburgh and awaiting his PI license, to accompany her to a Save Our Dunes fundraiser and art festival. And her date proves helpful when the body of a disgraced photographer turns up during a nature walk.

The crime—and the photos taken by the dead man—raise a lot of questions about local politics, environmental battles, and the victim’s womanizing ways. As Athena’s endearing Greek-American family strives to solve a mystery of their own (uncovering the identity of Athena’s anonymous blog), she and Case try to find the tangled roots of this murder and make sure there’s no sanctuary for a killer...

Review

This is the 3rd book in the Goddess of Green St series, but the first in in the series I have read. While labeled as a cozy, it has more of a chic lit vibe to it, and while I found Athena's family charming, I wanted to know more about THEM, versus her and Case, which was supposed to be the focus, I did feel like I should have read at least the prior book to better understand their relationship, as it just didn't draw me in. It should be stand alone, but the prior references felt like I needed to know more and kept be wondering, and not focusing on the current story. I like the idea of an older character with a son for a cozy, but I personally just didn't connect, and it took me longer to finish the book than it should have. But other readers have felt differently, so if you're more into a chick lit romance cozy, this one might be for you.
