Review:
We tend to look at the bible as a book in itself. But it isn't is it? It's a compilation of writings. That is something we really forget- that different writers, with different experiences and backgrounds, wrote different books, that were put together, to tell a central story. Acclaimed Bible teacher Kay Arthur says Encounter the 3D Bible will “help any reader understand the Bible better and approach it from the proper perspective regardless of age, biblical background, or preconceived ideas.”
And that is what this book does- it teaches YOU to look at the bible differently, to take her tips and ideas and see for yourself, what may have influences different books and concepts in the bible, so that YOU have a better understanding of not only why they were written as they were, but why they were included. For example, knowing the historical and geographical context of an Old Testament book, helps you to understand the stories of the prophets. Understanding Jewish laws and customs of the time, helps to make sense of why Jesus so upset the establishment,
But there is more- how many of us stop to think that the Old Testament writings were ones that JESUS knew? That these stories had been part of the vocal storytelling of their cultural history that was passed down in the Jewish faith, as well as their rules were part that we know as Deuteronomy? It helps to make you stop and think about the depth of history that is in the book we know as the full bible.
There is a reason this book has over 29 five-star reviews on Amazon, and pastors and academics alike, are calling the book a “must-read.” It is imperative to understand HOW to read the bible as not 'just' a book, but to understand the influences that helped to make the writings a testament to the Christian faith, and why it holds truth even today, with the changed landscape and time. We highly recommend it as a way to reignite your bible study!
