A brand-new series perfect for Richard Osman readers and all fans of a page-turning whodunnit.

Foul Play at Seal Bay cover

Synopsis:

It was meant to be the start of quiet season in the sleepy Cornish village of Seal Bay, but not for sexagenarian librarian and wild swimming enthusiast Morwenna Mutton. Because when a local businessman is found on the beach with a bread knife is his back, bungling police officer DI Rick Tremayne is soon out of his depth. Morwenna knows it’s going to be down to her to crack the case.

The list of people the victim upset is long, the evidence is slight, and an arrest illusive. Morwenna has plenty to occupy her time what with ghostly goings-on at the library and skullduggery at her granddaughter’s school, but she could never resist a challenge. And even the most ruthless of murderers should quake at the sight of this amateur sleuth getting on her bike to track them down.

If you love Miss Marple and The Thursday Murder Club, then you'll love The Morwenna Mutton mysteries.

Review:

This is book 1 in Judy's new series, and it's interesting to have an older character, who is quite eccentric and knows her own mind! Morwenna has 2 mysteries at hand- the ghost in the library and a death at her daughter's engagement party, and she was the last person to speak to the deceased. But there are a lot of people with reasons to be the murderer and in order to clear her name, Morwena has to start asking questions. But like all good plans, sometimes someone doesn't want you asking questions, and Morwena is soon in danger of being killed herself. It's a fun romp and I can't wait to read book 2 in the series!

About the Author:

Hello. Thanks for visiting my page.

I'm Judy Leigh. I've lived all over the UK from Liverpool to Cornwall, but currently I live in Somerset. After teaching theatre, writing lyrics for a punk band and setting up Shakespeare Festivals, I completed an MA in Professional Writing.

Over the last few years I have written many novels that feature characters of all ages, but focus on the lives of older women.

These novels celebrate communities, fun and friendship, the emotional ups and downs of life, relationships, the power of laughter and the belief that everyone should have a second chance at happiness.

I also write under the name of Elena Collins. These are dual timeline stories and a little bit spooky. Writing in this genre gives me the opportunity to focus on history, injustice, the supernatural, and to think about the lives of women then and now. Please take a look at The Witch's Tree and The Lady of the Loch.

I also write cosy crime. My first of the Morwenna Mutton series, Foul Play at Seal Bay, set on the beautiful Cornish coast, is out this summer. It's a really exciting new genre for me and I hope you'll enjoy it.

When I'm not writing, I'm often on the beach or on the moors, walking, doing yoga or travelling in the camper van. I'm a Reiki healer, a vegan, an interpreter of dreams and an animal lover. I have three black cats and I enjoy sunshine, conversation, laughter, travelling, live music, theatre and football.
