I had read the previous 3 books in this series, but not shared them on this blog. The series is interesting as each book is both a thriller AND a mystery, and as expected from Robotham, a roller coaster of a read. I literally read this book in 2 days, as it was so good at tying up threads from the previous books, with a new angle. Evie is now a teenager and as teens are want to do, needs independence and thinks she can handle anything. And she can, until memories from her past come avalanching over her and stunning her into silence.Now Cyrus has to help her, by trying to figure out what about the migrants shattered her world and if it has links to her past. A lot of mysteries lately have migrant tales, but this is the first that I have read, that really tied that concept into a story arc in an unexpected way. It was quite satisfying to have waited through the previous books to get to this revelation about Evie's pas! You can read the book as a standalone, as it gives you enough background about Evie and Cyrus, and does leave the door open for another book, so you would have time to go back and read the previous books as well.
