A fading Hollywood star is back in the spotlight – but for deadly reasons!
Synopsis:
Hollywood descends on Cambridge when the historic Round Church becomes a film set for Viking Bride, starring famous – albeit fading – actress Agnes Dermont.
But Agnes’ big comeback quickly descends into farce due to the woeful script and acting, not to mention the general disregard for historical authenticity – although a Viking knife turns out to be a little too real when Agnes is found with it buried in her chest.
Detective Chief Inspector Arthur St. Just encounters bitter rivalries, simmering tensions and devastatingly dark secrets among the cast and crew as he investigates, but can he work out who was so determined that Agnes wouldn’t make the film’s final cut?
Review:
Ah the movies- there is so much the movie doesn't see, isn't there? The financing, the screen writing, the casting, the back room deals to get the movies to the big screen. For Insp St Just, it really doesn't matter to him that a movie is being shot locally, but murder? Well, that he does care about. As he and his team have to determine who had access and why an actress with not much acting skill is headlining a major movie (motive for death?). The more they learn, the more they realize practically everyone on the set has a motive and reason to kill the star. It's a slough trying to figure out their main suspects, and make sure they make an arrest before the crew leaves and their suspects are lost. An interesting read, I'll be looking at more books in this series!
