MURDER AT THE WATER MILL coverMURDER AT THE WATER MILL a gripping British cozy murder mystery by Jon Harris
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was the first book in the series that I read. It was an interesting cozy, though it took a bit to put off standard police reqs and go with the flow of the series. The police investigation is sent sideways and the coop hires a sorta PI, the detectives son's girlfriend to get to the bottom of things....as no one believes it was an accident. Meanwhile the coop is fighting aggressive tourism competition from the mega farm up the road, with it's celebrity owner and lower prices. With her boyfriend's blessing, Julia goes undercover to try to find out if the competitive celebrity farm may be trying to shut down the mill. The more Julia gets to know, the more possible motives and arguments come out. It's a quick read, and readers may spend more time making comparisons to real life tv personalities, than to the plot, which turns out be decent. Not sure If I'll come back for more in the series, but it's a solid 3.5 stars
