The third installment in the award-winning, NYT Bestselling, book club worthy Castle Knoll Murder Mystery series, in which Annie Adams and her Great Aunt Frances head to London, and team up across decades to solve two interlocking murders, uncovering another layer of secrets festering in the idyllic English Village of Castle Knoll.

Synopsis:
Annie Adams thought she'd solved her last Castle Knoll murder. She was wrong.
1968: Frances Adams is loving her new London life. She's a psychology student, a diner waitress, and falling for Ford Gravesdown, who understands her like no one else. But one of her new friends, Vera is scared for her life. She's found out something she shouldn't know about someone with a lot of power, and before Frances can help her, Vera is found dead, her heart ripped right out of her chest.
Present day: Annie Adams needs some time away from Castle Knoll, the quaint English village that's home to a surprising number of murderers. She'll spend the summer in the Chelsea House, the London townhome that once belonged to her Great Aunt Frances, for a change of scenery. But when her artist mother's new protegee is found dead, murdered in exactly the same, gruesome way as Vera all those years ago, Annie realizes Castle Knoll isn't done with her yet. Fate, it seems, is not so easily escaped.
Review:
I missed book 2 in the series (How to Seal Your Own Fate), which explains, why I didn't know a few things at the beginning of the book, but the author explained them briefly, so I had an idea (but not everything that occurred). This book circles back to the previous in that Annie has her own fortune that was given by Penny Lane, which she believes is related to her mothers current situation, with her new lodger. So she goes to her mother's to see what is going on, only to literally find the lodger dead on top of her mother's original paintings that haven't been seen for years. Knowing there is more than what the police think is happening, she calls for reinforcement (her detective boyfriend) and together they try to figure out what is going on. if only her mother would stop lying to her...working back and forth in time, we see more of the family history and how things worked out the way they did. Add the current murder, and Annie has her hands full. A quick, page turner, this one can be read by itself, but it's much better read in series.
