ONE VILLAGE. TEN SUSPECTS. ONE DEADLY PERFORMANCE.

importance of being murdered cover
Synopsis:

The curtain is about to rise on the Bunbury Players' latest production, Oscar Wilde's classic comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest.

But moments before the show starts, the leading man, retired star of stage and screen Bertram Manchester, is found dead in his dressing room.

As rumours spread throughout the Cotswold village community, Detective Constable Windermere seizes her chance to catch a killer and secure the promotion she craves.

The trouble is, every member of the cast has something to hide.

Will her front-row seat to murder enable DC Windermere to uncover the truth ... or will she be the next person taking their last bow?

Review:

This Cotswold village, and it's theatre troup, reminds me of the group from Janice Hallett's books,  with lots of quirky characters, but also ones you'd expect to find in a small village acting group. Add in soon to be retirement of the director, a washed up TV star with issues, repressed feelings and a by the book detective who thwarts the smart young detective, and you've got a charming cozy that is a quick read, that keeps you guessing for most of the book. This is a stand alone from her other series, but introduces you to her fun characters and twisty plots!
