Review:
The books gives you a brief run down about what happens with your body when you begin GLP-1s and what you need to do to help it along, before getting into the recipes. Meal planning is the best way to make sure that you are getting enough protein, not too much starch and enough fiber at every meal, to help you body work the most effectively with the GLP-1s.
Something I've found is that meal prep makes it EASY on work days- there is no struggle-you can grab a quick breakfast/lunch to go, and not have to worry about what you need to eat/nutrition later in a busy day. Off days I save for trying new recipes and bringing more variety into our menu. Something I have found, that is also brought out in the meal prep in this book is flavor- don't give yourself bland food- that is the quickest way to spiral out-whether it's Cajun spice, Asian spices and sauces, or Mexican spice- make it tasty and you won't mind eating the same meal 3 times in one week!
The book aims for a 21 day prepped plan, but you can also pick and choose from the meals, and put them into your own routine. Breakfast picks are the smoothie above, Open Faced Tacos (yes, for breakfast!) and the Spinach Artichoke Bake! Lunch and dinner picks are lemon-Garlic Shrimp Skewers, Cashew and Parmesan Crusted Salmon, Apple Slow-Cooker Pork Loin and Cajun Shrimp Quinoa Casserole. The desserts are pretty much smoothies, but you could probably swap them to a chilled dessert, similar to pudding, by swapping out Greek unflavored yogurt for the milk, and chilling for a few hours. You'll still get reduced calories, and high protein! Overall this book give you a varied menu, of different international flavors, that focus on 1 or 2 proteins and add in flavor and additional nutrition. It's a good starter book for your meal prep, so give it a check out, if you want to simplfy your cooking!
