Synopsis:
A town shattered by violence confronts the ghosts of the past.
When three men are found brutally murdered in Llanelli, Detective Inspector Caren Waits uncovers a chilling pattern: each victim had once faced allegations of sexual abuse that never led to prosecution.
Michael Dale is garrotted in a car park just weeks after his prison release. Ian Hannon, a man with a dark past, is next. Then Eddie Keane is stabbed in his own kitchen. All three deaths share the same sinister thread - failed justice and buried secrets.
As Caren digs deeper, the investigation points to individuals with grudges against the first two victims. But the evidence doesn't add up, and when inconsistencies emerge Caren begins to suspect the killer might be closer than anyone imagined.
In a desperate race against time, Caren must stop the killer before vengeance claims another life.
Review:
What starts as seemingly no reason for a murder soon evolves into multiple murders that seem to have no connection. The more Caren and her team search for clues, the more murkier the case seems. As they search for connections, they soon realize they have too many suspects. A quick read, the book picks up after the events of the previous book as Caren is moving into her new house. My only issue (again) is for the relationship stuff. It just doesn't sit right, with my experience of single moms in law enforcement. But removing it gives the book 4.5 stars solidly..
