If you know me you know I love a good carrot cake! The fact that this one comes not from the South, but from NYC, is sort of surprising but it's definitely tasty and it's sort of a surprise at how old the recipe is! I would probably add an iced drizzle to it though.
Review:
Got a history buff or somebody who really really enjoys Halloween? Then this cookbook is definitely what you need to give them for a birthday or hostess present or for the holidays. Each recipe includes the history of the location where it came from, and the true crime, that got it included into this collection, before you get the recipe and a colored picture of it. Yes every recipe has a colored picture! You might find some new highlights for your next travel adventure in this collection as well, especially for those that are out of the way and you may not have heard of before. The recipes are quite varied, some are pretty old and some are more recent, but all are pretty simple to make, just follow the directions, with the caveat that modern taste may want more spice added than the recipe includes. This may end up becoming more of a tabletop book, especially during the Halloween season thanks to its interesting blend of history and cooking! Don't pass this one up!

Now, she’s the co-star and executive producer of The Travel Channel’s Kindred Spirits and host of the true crime podcast Haunted Road. Amy is the owner of Strange Escapes, a company offering paranormal excursions to some of America’s most notoriously haunted destinations. She is the author of Life with the Afterlife, and currently resides in Newport, Rhode Island.
