Book Review/ Giveaway/ CLOSED/ Blog Tour: Hear No Evil by Matthew Paul Turner

WaterBrook Multnomah Publishing Group, a division of Random House, has started getting some REALLY interesting Christian titles and I'm always interested when they tell me there is a giveaway opportunity, because I KNOW it will be a great book!

This month they sent me Hear No Evil by Matthew Paul Turner to review and giveaway.

I'm really not sure how to characterize this book! In many ways it reminded me of a potential John Hughes 'Christian' movie, an expose of 'hard core' Baptist churches (Independent Fundamental Baptist, in this case), a Christian version of 'High Fidelity' AND a expose of Christan music magazines! WHEW! It's hip, fresh and FUNNY! Any book that makes music central, is gonna work for me!

I LOVED THIS BOOK! 

Course I think one of the opening paragraphs really hooked me:
"Music has always been present in my life. I can't remember a day when music, wasn't somehow involved. Music is like God in alot of ways: moving, omnipresent, unpredictable. And sometimes hard to get out of your head-even when you really want to".

This was really the best description of this book- I kept wanting to get back to reading it to see what was going to happen next! My only complaint was I wish there had been more tales from when Turner worked  at CCM. The Amy Grant interview he spoke about just left me wanting to hear more (and yes Matthew, I'm a BIG fan of hers too, for the SAME reasons!). If you can't win this book here, try on another site or go buy it today- you won't regret it, and I bet you'll be passing it on among your friends as soon as you finish it!

After a childhood in rural Maryland, Turner attended Nashville’s Belmont University, where he received a BBA in music business, and was the editor of CCM magazine before leaving to pursue writing as a career.
