Product Review/ Giveaway: Urnex Coffee Pot and Espresso Machine Cleaners

Now ya'll KNOW I ADORE COFFEE (See I even capitalized that to stress the point!) and it's not unheard of for us to have 2 or 3 pots in one day at home. At work? Whew- make that 3-4 on days and 4-5 on nights! So when I say I am around busy coffee pots, I'm not kidding!

Which is why when Urnex offered me the chance to review their coffee pot and espresso machine cleaning products I was thrilled!

Urnex may have an odd sounding name,but the company has been in business since 1936 (!!), so they know their stuff! The name comes from the coffee urns that they're original cleaners were for! 

I was sent 4 sample products:

1. Cleancaf Brand Cleaner and Descaler -- Cleancaf is designed to remove flavor-tainting stale coffee oil residue from home machines. Its dual action formula also prevents the accumulation of scale deposits which are responsible for slow brew times and machine malfunctions. Portion packaged for easy use, Cleancaf also contains a blue-dye which helps to ensure proper rinsing. Best used bi-weekly or monthly!  I used this one on the at-home Braun coffee pot with super success! You don't realize your coffee isn't tasting AS good as it should, as it is a gradual decline. BUT when it's cleaned-WOW can you taste the difference between a before and after cup! I really liked how they added the blue-dye, so you KNOW you've got the pot clean and it was very easy to use! You just pour in the Cleancaf, pour in the water and run like a normal pot of coffee. Then add more water and do it again (or rinse out all components, I like to run twice to be sure!). Wham, you;re done! And because it's pre-packaged, it's super quick!

2. Dezcal Activated Scale Remover is specifically formulated to quickly and effectively descale the hot water tanks and components of coffee and espresso machinery. By removing mineral deposits which clog and impair brewing equipment, Dezcal allows machines to perform at optimal levels. Non-toxic and bio-degradable, is suitable for use by both business and home users alike. Recommended you use quarterly. Each Retail Box contains 4 single-use packets, and can be used for coffee AND espresso machines!
I used this one on the work machine, as we had cleaned it about 6 weeks ago with a different product, that had no descaler in it (was more for home machines). As this one is MADE for business machines, I wanted to see what it could do!  WOW- you know the business style pots from the coffee companies? They really scale up judging by how much gunk came out in the water. And yes, BOY did the coffee taste great. Like the Cleancaf, it's pour in the bag, add water, brew and repeat with clean water. VERY simple! And yes, the next pot of coffee tasted MUCH better!

3. Cafiza Home Espresso Machine Cleaning Tablets are specifically designed for use on home super automatic espresso machines. Cafiza Home was designed with home equipment in mind. The product is compatabile with all major brands of home super automatics and is a universal cleaning option. Intended for monthly use, you just put one tablet in and follow your manufacturer's recommended cleaning instructions. SIMPLE!

Unfortunately, I do not have a home espresso machine, nor do any of my friends anymore. So I am going to be giving this one to one of you lucky readers! Keep reading the rest of the post to find out how!

4. Grindz Retail Grinder Cleaner is a portion-packaged version of our patent-pending innovation. The product is an all-natural, safe, and easy way to keep your grinder fresh and clean. Grindz quickly and effectively removes stale coffee residue and flavored coffee odors from the internal burrs and casings of coffee grinders. Requiring no grinder disassembly, users simply run the coffee bean shaped tablets through the machine on a medium setting, just like coffee. You get 3 single use packets per box, and should be used quarterly or monthly, based on how much you use the grinder and switch out coffee flavors in it!

My coffee grinder decided to bail prior to being tested and died a quick death. Joy, I've only had it for over 12 years....Oh well, now back on the hunt for a new one that I LIKE. SIGH (feel free to send any recommendations!). However I have to admit I like flavored coffee and nobody else does in the household, so I like to grind only what I need for a small pot at one time, so I do switch back and forth on flavored/not, so this is a SUPER product to keep the grinder smelling fresh!

Overall I HIGHLY recommend the Urnex product line! The products are really SIMPLE to use and they make a HUGE difference! And at only about $2-$3 per usage, it's really not much to make sure you get that GREAT cup of coffee you paid for with the better coffee you bought!
