SURPRISE- it's National Cookie Day!
In honor of the day, and knowing how much my readers like cookie related giveaways, I have a special Christmas package giveaway for your today!
Included in this giveaway is another of the adorable Reindeer kitchen towels, a set of blue and white snowflake sprinkles (apparently blue and white are the NEW Christmas colors this year!), a set of cookie cutters (includes stocking, reindeer, gingerbread man, angel and tree) and a Words That Rhyme with Orange cd by Ross King (reviewed on this blog here) .
The cd is cute and the perfect antidote when you can't take another Christmas song (can it be so???), and want something cute for the kids to sing along with!
Plus there will be a Secret Santa gift enclosed!
Now onto a recipe for the day!
Oatmeal Shortbread (works great for cutting out cookies!)
2. Work with hands until a soft, smooth dough forms.
3. Shape into a disk and wrap with plastic wrap.
4. Place in the refrigerator 30 minutes or until easy to handle.
5. Preheat oven to 300F.
6. Roll out dough to 1/4" thickness. Cut into shapes with cookie cutters. Place on ungreased baking sheets. Decorate if desired.
7. Bake for 15-25 minutes, or until edges are lightly browned. Time will depend on cookie size.
8. Remove and cool completely on wire rack. Store in airtight container at room temperature.

2/3 cup oats
1/2 cup corn starch
1/2 cup powdered sugar
3/4 cup butter, softened
