This past year Kiddo received this book by David Shannon, but just wasn't too impressed with it.
I moved around some of the furniture to make room in her bedroom for a birthday present that I know is coming from Grandma and Papa, and I took the opportunity to go through all her books. Make that her LIBRARY. Seriously- the girl has some books already! AND I pulled for giveaway, to put up for later (too old for now), and to store (baby books).
When she came upstairs that night she was awed at how much moving 3 pieces around gave her more floor space! Sometimes you have to try to see what happens! Then she started going through the books on the shelf and found this one. It was totally new to her and she just HAD to read it! (oh what a difference 5 months makes...LOL).
Synopsis: Alice has a nose for trouble, but luckily she's a fairy--a Temporary Fairy. She has a magic wand, fairy wings, and a blanket, all of which she uses to disappear, to fly, to transform her dad into a horse, and to turn his cookies into her own! There are still a few things Alice needs to learn to become a Permanent Fairy, like how to float her dog on the ceiling and make her clothes put themselves away, but she's working on it--sort of. Here's an endearing, funny story about a girl and her magical imagination, sure to delight every fairy in training!
Review: Kiddo really loved this story! She laughed the whole way through and kept telling em what Alice was doing bad! She thought the dog trick was especially funny and told me Marley does the same things (ignores her requests). This is the perfect story for little girls who run around with fairy wings on and think they can turn frogs into princes! We both hope Shannon decides to write a couple more Alice books (like he did with the David books!)
