Book Review and Giveaway: The American Sandbox Dictionary of Children's Misprounced English by Alvin Zamudio

If you have kids, you know sometimes they can say something and you think you heard it wrong, and when you ask them to repeat it they do (usually with rolling of eyes), and pretty much about 80% of the time, you DID hear it right, but they REALLY pronounced the word(s) wrong and with a different meaning. If you can keep a straight face and not fall on the floor laughing, you're a great parent! The rest of us correct the kids after we get off the floor! So when I found out about this book, I was super thrilled to be able to offer it to my readers!

Synopsis: If you love kids, you'll be sure to love this hilarious parody dictionary of everyday words mispronounced by children, each with their own anecdotal definition and contextual example! This first edition of over 370 words has been compiled from thousands of mispronunciations submitted by parents from all across the web, to the American Sandbox website, and illustrated by Alvin's two oldest children Addison (7) and Mya (6). Here's some great examples!

• smoke-in-a-troll: A handheld device that operates the functions of an electronic device from a distance, which also has a strange tendency to disappear when used by children."Mom where's the smokinatroll? "
• far-mer-john: Also called farmerjohn cheese. A hard, dry Italian skim milk cheese usually grated and served atop foods such as pizza or salad. " I want more farmerjohn on my pizza, please! "  (This is my personal fav, as growing up in California, we had Farmer John hotdogs all the time!)
• man-y-nems: A world-famous confection of milk chocolate with a hard candy shell that may not melt in your hands but will certainly have disastrous results if left in children's pockets for long periods of time. "Mommy, can I have some more manynems? Mine are all melted! "

Review: This book is truly "adorabubble" (aka adorable). And will take you back to when your kids were small, or make you feel not so bad, that your kids are making similar goofs at the same ages as the kids in the book! This book would be hilarious to use for baby shower games- aka, what is the real word for the kid speak, or real definition. Definitely something the new mama will have to look forward to! Plus it would be a great game if you're having a couples shower! if you want a funny book to have on hand, this is the one!

About the Author: Alvin Zamudio is an artist, composer, producer, and now a first- time author. He and his wife, Margaret, have three children—two of whom are now illustrators—and live in St. Louis, Missouri.
