As part of the Amazon Vine review program, I get to review some really neat items sometimes!
Case in point, Stained Fabric markers by Sharpie! Yup, Sharpie!
There are 8 colors available- all the basics, in a nice medium tip. The best part? They dry practically instantly and will NOT fade, even with washing! Woo-Hoo!
I couldn't wait to use them! Having no white sneakers around to experiment with, I did have a couple of white t-shirts and a box of iron-on appliques. AHA, inspiration strikes!
So I made up 2 shirts for Kiddo for VBS:
1. The first shirt: (ignore the orange fade look on the shirt, I had an orange under page to help the pattern stand out while I took photo! I ironed on the rose, butterfly and hearts, and then inked in designs around them and then grafittied Kiddo's name on the top, continuing the red and black. Then I added in yellow and orange accents around the butterfly. Kiddo was amazed and loved it!
2. For my second project, I took another shirt and wrote 'Protected by Angels' on the front using the pink marker. I was going to go back and make purple shadow, but the markers on the thin cotton, sorta bled and gave it their own self-shadow, which actually worked out pretty well!
I then ironed on the angel wings on the back! (aha you say-there WAS a plan!)
Pretty cute huh? Kiddo loved her wings too!
Overall I REALLY like these markers! I found using them on shirts at VBS that they kept the slight bleed up on the light cotton shirts. I think it is more fabric related than marker related. I tried them on more solid fabrics and they did not do the bleed effect. And because I'm looking for them, I can't find sneakers in my size to doodle up! Naturally! The shirts are washing up really well and there is NO fade! I am impressed and will definitely buy these markers again and recommend them!

Hi! Did you iron with steanless iron before washing? And do you like them? Are they permanent enough?
ReplyDeletei did hit them with a hot iron- NO steam, over an ironging clothe to set.
DeleteThey lasted pretty well- my daughter outgrew the shirt in about 6 months, but they did well with multiple washings. NO dry though- hung dry and I think that helped.
I did use them on a pair of keds and combo of sweaty feet and raining did not bode well for them, as the heat set didnt take (may not have held long enough). But on clothing and bags, they have held up fine!
