Synopsis:
The sudden death of national treasure Noah Voce on a film set in Tenby shatters the calm of the seaside town—but for Detective Inspector Caren Waits, it’s only the beginning of a nightmare. Loved by millions, Voce seemed untouchable… until someone silenced him.
The cast and crew are tight-lipped while the relentless demands of the press and the looming shadow of PR lawyers keep Caren on a razor's edge. As she battles to keep control of the investigation, she has to deal with the fallout from discovering her late husband had been living a secret life.
As Caren digs deeper into Voce’s life, the perfect image the actor portrayed begins to unravel. And when a second victim, another actor, turns up dead, the pressure mounts. Caren’s search for answers takes a chilling turn. The answer will be more shocking than Caren could ever have imagined.
Review:
Following up the events in The Paxton's Tower Murders (book 1 of the series), Caren and her son are settling into their new home, and her team is starting to see how they can work underneath her, who she still has a shadow looming from the previous DI and her husband's death. As she is sent in to the film set to try to solve the death question as soon as possible, to stop the publicity spree, Caren son realizes it's not a case of natural causes of simple misadventure, but murder. With a director trying to work around her crime scene limitations, missing employees form the day of the murder and a widow who seems to be trying to thwart their case, they have a number of hurdles to get past if they are to solve the crime.
